Women’s Rights Group To Protest Rick Ross At Reebok Store In NYC

As previously reported, a women’s rights group, UltraViolet, filed a petition demanding that be dropped from his endorsement deal with as a result of his date-rape lyrics on the song “U.O.E.N.O.” Now, the anti-sexism group will be taking things a step further as they plan to protest Rick Ross outside of the Reebok flagship store in NYC.
Later today, UltraViolet will lead a protest outside of Reebok’s flagship store in Manhattan, and deliver 71,000 + petitions, signed thus far, demanding that Reebok drop Rick Ross from his endorsement deal with the company.
Nita Chaudhary, co-founder of , who started the petition against Ross gave a statement on the protest:
In remaining silent, Reebok is using it’s brand to promote rape. Reebok and Rick Ross have crossed a line— not only does Ross brag about drugging and raping a woman, he is pushing the idea that if you don’t use the word ‘rape’ it doesn’t count. We are fed up and disgusted with Reebok, and Thursday we will bring this fight to their front steps.
For the protest, women are planning to appear in running attire with marathon style numbering featuring the number 71,763, which is the number of petitions signed up to this point in effort to let Rbk know if they want their business, then drop the rapper from his deal.
UltraViolet’s protest of Rick Ross at the Reebok flagship store in NYC will take place today at 2pm EST.
Update: Seemingly after getting word of the protest, Rick Ross took to his Twitter page to apologize for the lyric once again.
